We hit 10% renewable energy nationally for the first time nationally in March! We need to keep pushing, but this is a nice milestone.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Also, one of the things Kansas can be proud of, our 30% renewable contribution. (We need to beat Iowa’s 37% though)

hell yeah! wait.. no that’s pathetic! we could be doing much much better! As soon as I own my house it’s getting a 2k panel setup. It’s bullshit that we are happy about 10%.

surprised Brownback didn’t get rid of all of that hippie nonsense.

Has anyone actually seen a Chevy Bolt on the road?
I’ve yet to see one.

I agree (this doesn’t include hydro, which makes the percentage much higher) but we’ve got to start somewhere. As you know, we’ve got to attack this from both ends, with both higher end use efficiency and higher renewable generation.

Seimens builds their turbine nacelles in Hutchinson, it’s one of the few businesses that’s doing well in Kansas.

They’re not for sale nationally yet. Only in “select markets” (aka SoCal)
![]() 06/14/2017 at 11:41 |

Why isn’t hydro included in renewable calculations?
![]() 06/14/2017 at 11:41 |

Yup. I just checked. Thanks, though. They go on sale here next month.

There are times when I wish I was able to get a decent job developing RE technologies. I gots no in, though...

It’s...what’s the opposite of lit, because lit implies burning things

We need more hydro. All of the top-producing power stations in the world are hydroelectric. Doesn’t get much more “renewable” than the dam (ayyy) water cycle.

It’s usually broken out because it generates consistently and also has some serious ecological issues.

Yes, I saw on in AL a few days ago. Something looked “odd” about it, like it was probably a marketing/roadshow vehicle. I didn’t get a very good look at it, but it stood out.

I agree, but there are some serious ecological issues to consider though. Pumped hydro has huge potential as a storage method though.

I just chopped down 3 small oak trees and manually split them all for firewood this winter. Am I doing it right? More will grow, that’s renewable!

Can be if your house is actually using that heat efficiently.

Lol, they full scale revolted last week, it was a beautiful bipartisan smackdown of that idiot.

For sure, casually flooding out an entire ecosystem and putting another in its place is not a decision to be taken lightly. The benefits are immense though. Not just power generation but lakeside real estate, fishing, etc.

Pumped hydro is a really interesting and pretty efficient way to store energy, its great.
![]() 06/14/2017 at 12:08 |

But it’s renewable....... Seems like a weird reason.

I mean, at least that has experiencial benefits. There’s nothing quite like a bonfire with friends.

Yeah, it’s quality time with the family, for sure. Plus I was teaching my son to split logs, which is archaic “man training” kids desperately need. :D

We should expand hydro because as the ice caps melt there will be more water.

A couple hours on the business end of a maul is definitely a good form of stress relief.

I did mine with a mattock/pickaxe. Nothing like having a tool that’s only 50% suited for the job at hand!
![]() 06/14/2017 at 12:20 |

We should tie a rope to the edge of the ice shelf so that when they break off we can use the energy to spin turbines.
Global warming is clearly a force for good.

I’ve seen one. It’s massive in person. I expected it to be like a compact, but it’s more minivan.

Wait. Is it not like Leaf or i3 sized? It looks about as big as a Leaf or i3.
![]() 06/14/2017 at 12:28 |

It’s bigger than the Leaf. Like i3 height, but longer. It looks really odd in person.
![]() 06/14/2017 at 12:30 |

So is it Trax sized or bigger?
I’m genuinely curious to see one now.
![]() 06/14/2017 at 12:31 |

Notice it’s height and length compared to the Corvette. The Corvette front ends before the Bolt ends.
![]() 06/14/2017 at 12:33 |
|
That’s way larger than expected.
Also, I like it in blue. It actually looks really nice.

Dude, you joke; but Seattle is 95% hydro, carbon neutral, and the cost of electricity is 1/2 of the rest of the country and 1/4 that of california. suck it bitches!

All the time here in Seattle. Some guy here in my building at work has one.

When I use a mattock, I always imagine it going through my shin.
I rarely use a mattock.

One side is for digging trenches or planting in rocky soil...the other side is a shitty axe.
What could possibly go wrong with this combo?!

A couple. Very Honda Fit/i3 shaped.

If in california, not always renewable. Also highly dependent in many areas on seasonal rain/snow melt.

It burns Oil and Rubber.
